Yesterday, I moderated a town hall in Jonesborough with Democratic candidates for State House (Brad Batt & Sarah Jayne Della Vecchia) and the House of Representatives (Kristi Burke). You can find a recap here. A key part of my introductory remarks focused on how our campaign listens to ALL residents, not just those who agree with me:
Most importantly in this election cycle, we listened.
We listened not just to Democrats, but also to independents and Republicans who are tired of the politics of old. People who are tired of being ignored. Tired of decisions being made behind closed doors. Tired of being told that nothing can change.
And together, we proved that it can. We proved the good ol’ boys club can be beaten. We proved PAC money can be beaten. What is happening here is bigger than a political party. This is a people-powered movement for change.
