Give residents a voice before decisions are made: Sylvain Bruni provided a public comment at the August 13, 2026 JC Commission meeting in opposition to the 20% property tax increase.
A three-minute comment immediately before a vote is not meaningful public engagement. For consequential projects and policy changes, the City should engage residents while alternatives are still being considered.
What I’ll push for as your JC Commissioner:
- Earlier public meetings for major projects.
- Neighborhood-specific outreach when decisions directly affect an area.
- Online and in-person participation options.
- Meaningful and proactive media engagement so they are welcomed and supported at all public business.
- Lifting restrictions on public comments (total number, split per positions, etc.).
